Offset Pivot SetPivots

Pivots are designed to work with the laws of physics to provide long-lasting performance and reliability. A door supported on pivots relies on the strength of the floor to carry the weight thus providing a means to hang extremely heavy doors in an opening and allowing for door adjustment throughout the life of the building to compensate for settlement. Pivots are not dependent upon support from a frame so that doors can be hung in a frameless opening. Many types of pivots and special modifications are available to allow unique opening designs and functions.

  • Offset Pivot Applications
  • Center Hung Pivot Applications
  • Thick Doors
  • Heavy & Lead Lined Doors
  • Emergency Release Openings
  • Power Transfer Applications

Manufacturers:  Dorma, Hager, Ives, Rixson

Special Application Hinges & Pivots

Pocket Pivots are commonly used in cross-corridor door applications including fire
rated doors. Pocket pivots can only swing 90 degrees and allow doors to open into and sit in a pocket in the wall. Pocket Pivots are available from Ives, McKinney, and Rixson.

Pivot Reinforced Hinges are an economical way to add years of life to door openings by providing a means to correct a sagging door typically caused by failure of the hinge screws or hinge reinforcement at the top hinge. Pivot reinforced hinges are available from ABH, Adams Rite, Don-Jo, Hager, Markar, and Stanley.
